The appeal of the Edison light bulb is all in its exposed-filament display. By virtue of their clear-bulb design, they're best for showing off on a hanging pendant or as part of as exposed sconce, as opposed to hiding behind a shade. Historically, incandescent Edison bulbs have been used to create a low-light, hipster-chic atmosphere; however, they aren't the most eco-friendly option. While you can still buy incandescent Edison bulbs online today, they are not at all energy-efficient, as they give off a lot of heat to create that moody glow, they for the most part aren't dimmable, and they're extremely fragile.
Enter: the LED Edison light bulb. Now available in all of the same uniquely swirled-filament styles, they're a dead ringer for the original Edison bulbs, but far better for the environment (and your energy bill!), and are far more affordable now than when they burst onto the scene. Here are six different Edison light bulb shapes to give that coveted vintage-era refinement to any room in your home.
