Real Madrid

Champions LeagueAt least one Spanish team will make final

Real Madrid-Atletico and Monaco-Juventus are the 2016/17 UCL semi-finals

Atletico had been hoping for Real Madrid in the final

After a long wait, the draw finally took place, with a repeat of the Madrid derby on the cards in the semi-finals this year and not the last round as in previous campaigns.

Atletico will be hoping for revenge as Real Madrid outlasted them in the last two finals in which they met, in Lisbon (2013/14) and Milan (2015/16).

On the other hand, the high-flying Monaco attack will face a tough test against the trademark resolute Juventus defence, led by their very own BBC.

The two Madrid clubs know each other well, while the French and Italian sides have a Champions League pedigree of their own, making it one of the most intriguing semi-final pairings in recent memory.

The first legs will take place on May 2 and 3rd, with the returns coming the following week on May 9 and 10th.

The final will take place on Saturday June 3rd at 20:45 CET in Cardiff, Wales.
