Sheikh Mohammed moves building site to save wildlife

In the minute long video that has been watched over 35,000 times, the two rulers can be seen exploring the building site which looks to be in a forested area of the UAE until they discover a houbara bustard bird laying eggs in the area.

According to the caption on Lt. Gen Al Nayan’s video, finding the bird that plays a vital role in one of the nation’s oldest sports (falconry) caused them to move the entire building site. “During their meeting one week ago in Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed were walking in the forest area where a project was expected to be built. They then saw the houbara bird and its eggs, and ordered the project’s location to be moved to another area so that the eggs could hatch.”

This isn’t the first time that Sheikh Mohammed has made headlines for his love of animals. Last year a video of the 67-year-old ruler helping a turtle into the sea went viral.

The video was uploaded to HH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein’s Instagram account, along with the caption: “The desert and the sea are equal parts of the UAE heritage, but not all people know them both as well as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.”

Hundreds of thousands of royal supporters praised him for kind and loving spirit with one even commenting: “This makes me HAPPY”, while another said, “Thank you for sharing this lovely moment! Did you notice that pat on the back when he made it successfully to the sea? No wonder he is an inspirational and ever motivating leader!”
