'I decided to run in this election because I wanted to address women’s issues at the political arena. As a woman, a teacher, activist and a woman leader I could see that more work needed to be done for the women and I thought I could do it. Having that in mind I want to contest with the intention to give priority to women’s issue in my province and country as a whole. Political leadership in Simbu has been dominated by men for so long and I am confident that with my strong network I can prove to the people that we can have women in the political arena for equal participation.'
The election writs will be issued on the 20 April 2017 after which there will be 7 days for candidates to nominate. The campaign will run for a period of eight weeks with polls opening on June 24 2017.
