GLAAS REPORT CALLS FOR RADICAL INCREASE IN INVESTMENTS

According to the UN-Water Global Analysis and Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water (GLAAS) 2017 report released last week, countries have increased their budgets for water, sanitation and hygiene at an annual average rate of 4.9% over the last three years. Yet, 80% of countries report that water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) financing is still insufficient to meet nationally-defined targets for WASH services. To meet the SDG global targets, investments in infrastructure need to triple.
The UN-Water GLAAS report is presented at Sanitation and Water for All's High-level meetings on the margins of the IMF - World Bank Group's Spring Meetings.

ROLE OF WATER IN CLIMATE CHANGE

New video: UN-Water has developed a set of guiding principles om water and climate change. These formed the basis for two side events at COP21 and COP22 that brought together national and local governments with the private sector to discuss the role of water in climate change adaptation and mitigation and possible actions on the ground.
