CARMEL, IN (FOX19 NOW) - Xavier University's Trevon Bluiett was charged Monday afternoon for possession of marijuana, hash oil or hashish in his home state of Indiana, according to Hamilton County Jail records in Indiana.

Bluiett was arrested in Carmel, Indiana just before 3:30 p.m., according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday, police pulled over Bluiett on US 31 and Carmel Drive after traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone and failing to signal a lane change.

During the traffic stop, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from his car, according to police.

Bluiett was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 30 grams.

His bond was set at $1,000 at the Hamilton County Jail.

A court date has not been set.

"We are aware of the story and are looking into it," Associate Athletic Director for Communications at Xavier University Tome Eiser said in a statement.

On March 31, Bluiett declared for the NBA draft, but did not intend to hire an agent, according to his father, FOX19 NOW confirmed Friday.

Cincinnati Sports Agent Jimmy Gould said times are changing and doesn't think this will affect his draft prospects.

"Times are a changing. I've been an agent for 22 years and 22 years ago, it was a death nail... it was over with, you got the scarlet letter and that was the end of it. Today, 29 states it's legal in some form or another, and 25 percent of the population lives in those states - it's not as big of a deal," he said.

Bluiett led the Musketeers with 18.5 points per game in his junior season, including 85 points in four tournament games during Xavier's run to the Elite 8.

Bluiett is still eligible to return to Xavier for his senior season if he removes his name from among those declaring for the draft no later than ten days after the NBA combine.

Bluiett, a standout at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis, helped the Panthers win three state titles.
