Storm-Tossed Soccer Goal Kills 2-Year-Old In Antioch

A metal soccer goal fell on a toddler after high winds pushed through the Midstate Sunday.

ANTIOCH, TN β€” A two-year-old girl was killed Sunday when a metal soccer goal fell on her at a soccer complex on Antioch Pike.

As strong storms pushed through the Nashville area Sunday afternoon, winds apparently blew over the goal at International Indoor Soccer Complex at 2310 Antioch Pike.

Police say the girl, Melanie Espinoza Rodriguez, was taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her death was confirmed by Metro Police at 5:30 p.m.
