P3 for Mac

P3 for Mac is now on the Mac App Store!

We are excited to make our newest version of P3 for Mac available on the Mac App Store.

If you use P3 on your Mac now, please follow these instructions to upgrade to the newest version.

Step A - Check System Version

You need to check your Mac system version to make sure you can download P3 for Mac on the Mac App Store.

  1. Go to the Apple Menu on the top left corner of your screen and select ‘About This Mac’

 

  1. In the box that comes up, check the System name and Version number.

 

To use P3 for Mac 9.1, you must have one of these versions of macOS:

Yosemite – 10.10.x

El Capitan – 10.11.x

Sierra – 10.12.x

 

If your version of macOS is not shown above, you will need to upgrade your macOS.

If your version of macOS is shown above, please continue following these instructions by going to Step B below.

 

Step B - Uninstall Old P3

Before you install P3 for Mac via the Mac App Store, you should uninstall the old version of P3 you have been using.

  1. If P3 is running on your system, please go to your Dock and right-click or 2-finger click on the P3 icon and choose Quit.

 

  1. Go to your Applications folder.

 

  1. Find the app named ‘Purple’ then right-click or 2-finger click on it to move it to the trash.

 

  1. When you’ve moved the Purple app to the trash, be sure to empty the trash!

 

  1. If you still have the P3 icon in your Dock, you should remove it.
    1. Right-click or 2-finger click on the P3 icon in your Dock.
    2. Go to ‘Options’ then choose ‘Remove from Dock’.

Step C - Mac App Store Install

Now you’re ready to install P3 for Mac via the Mac App Store!

  1. Launch the Mac App Store by choosing ‘App Store’ in the Apple Menu.

 

  1. In the Search box on the top right of the Mac App Store, type ‘purple p3’ then press enter/return.

 

  1. You will see the P3 icon on the search results screen. Click on it.

 

  1. On the next screen, click on ‘Get’ to install P3 for Mac on your computer.
    1. ‘Get’ will turn into a green ‘Install App’ button.
    2. Click on it again. You will see a progress bar.

 

  1. You may be asked to Sign-In with your Apple ID.

 

  1. You will see the Launchpad icon bounce when P3 for Mac is done installing. You also will see the button under the P3 icon has changed to ‘Open’.


 

Please continue to Step D below.

 

Step D - Launch P3 for Mac App

Now that you have installed P3 for Mac via the Mac App Store, you are ready to use it!

  1. Go to your Applications folder and choose the P3 for Mac app named Purple P3 then double click on it to launch the app.

 

  1. You will see a dialog box asking you to make sure older versions of P3 are uninstalled from your Applications folder.
    1. If you have already completed Step B above, you may click OK.
    2. If you have not completed Step B above, please quit P3 for Mac and then go to Step B and follow the instructions there.

 

  1. When you see the sign in screen for P3 for Mac, please make sure the version number is 9.1.1 or higher
    1. If the version number is not 9.1.1 or higher, please immediately contact Customer Care at 877-885-3172 or click on 'Live Chat' at the top of this page.

 

  1. Now you can login to P3 for Mac.
    1. Sign in using your Purple username.
    2. Enter your Purple password.
    3. Click on the purple ‘Sign in’ button.

 

When you see yourself on camera and you see ‘Network online’ under your video – you are logged in and ready to make calls!

Step E - Add P3 for Mac Icon to Dock

For faster access to P3 for Mac, you can add the P3 for Mac app icon to your Dock.

  1. Run P3 for Mac.
  2. Right-click or 2-finger click on the P3 icon in your Dock.
  3. Make sure ‘Keep in Dock’ is checked under the ‘Options’ menu.
