I Needed The Quiet

I needed the quiet so He drew me aside
Into the shadows where we could confide
Away from the bustle where all day long
I hurried and worried when active and strong.

I needed the quiet, tho' at first I rebelled
But gently, so gently, my cross he upheld
And whispered so sweetly of spiritual things
Tho' weakened in body, my spirit took wings
To heights never dreamed of when active and gay
He loved me so greatly he drew me away.

I needed the quiet. No prison my bed
But a beautiful valley of blessings instead
A place to grow richer, in Jesus to hide
I needed the quiet, so he drew me aside.

Alice Hansche Mortenson

I received this beautiful poem from one of our online friends Rhonda B.  Rhonda sent this to me on January 22nd of 2016 which was right before my surgery last year.  I never realized then how much this poem would help me through my new journey.  Today over a year later I am still so thankful for the kindness Rhonda shared with me in offering up this poem, well wishes, support and prayers.  The power of kindness is something that is really immeasurable, as today I share this poem with you and will never know just how far it will travel.

I did a video this week http://trayerwilderness.com/randomactsofkindnessvid expressing my thoughts on extending kindness to others and I encourage you to watch it.  Giving and Receiving kindness is something we should all experience.  I love being able to gift people and have learned how humbling it is to receive.  Both are important aspects of life that I feel are essential for each of our survival because both giving and receiving are gifts that truly affect the heart!

Finding The Quiet

Sometimes we all need to find that quiet place that allows us to be who we are and to help us find ourselves!  My health journey has surely enriched my life in so many ways.  My walk with Jesus has gotten so much richer and sweeter too.

I encourage you to take time for “The Quiet”.  It is in the quiet that we are able to rejuvenate ourselves and in turn are able to give the best of ourselves as a person, friend, parent and spouse.  I always want to be able to offer the best of myself to others and I have found that in “The Quiet” I can do so.

God's Miracles On Our Off-Grid Homestead

14 "You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.  Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.  16  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."  Matthew 5:14 - 16

For those of you that might be struggling with life or maybe you know a friend that is going through a rough patch, I am honored and blessed to be a contributing author in a wonderful collaborative book called Courage Under Siege: Adversity To Victory.  The book was released this week on the 27th which is National Tell A Story Day and myself and 10 other ladies shared our heartfelt stories in an effort to bless the lives of others.  It is available on Amazon for $.99 and makes a great gift item to do a #RandomActOfKindness.  We all go through varying aspects in our lives so that we are more equipped with compassion and knowledge to help others.  It is important for us to share these stories...  If you have a story I would love to hear about it, email me!
