The New York home where the late David Bowie once lived with his wife Iman has hit the market for $6.5 million - and it comes complete with the rock icon's Yamaha piano.

Bowie and his wife lived in the three-bedroom pad in Midtown's famed Essex House building for a decade before they sold it in 2002.

His piano - undoubtedly a piece of rock history - is included in the million dollar price tag and has been handed down with the apartment in past sales.

When Bowie and his wife lived in the apartment from 1992-2002, they converted the master bedroom into a panic room in case a fan broke in. The bedroom has since been restored but heavy bolts (above) can still be seen on the doors. It also has a dressing room built especially for Iman

The apartment's 28-foot living room has sprawling views of Central Park.

Traces of the famous couple still remain in the apartment, including a dressing room off the master bedroom that was built for Iman and shelves in the living room that are hidden behind moving walls. 

When they lived in the apartment from 1992-2002, the couple converted the master bedroom into a panic room in the event that a crazed fan was able to break in.

While the master bedroom has since been restored, heavy bolts can still be seen on the inside of the doors.

The apartment, listed with Corcoran Real Estate, measures 1,877 square feet and comes with a newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms made of custom marble, porcelain and limestone.

Bowie's widow Iman still lives in their SoHo apartment, which they moved into after selling their Central Park pad. 

The rock icon, who sold about 140 million records in his five-decade career, died in his apartment in January 2016 from liver cancer. He died two days after his 69th birthday.
