BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Todd Pait has resigned after one season as head football coach at West Bladen High School.

Pait, who has accepted a defensive coordinator position at Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., will finish out the school year as a teacher at West Bladen.

Pait's Letter of Resignation

In March of last year, I was selected to be the eighth football coach in West Bladen's history. It was a dream job for me and I was ecstatic to get back to my hometown and get started. Despite my excitement I was also a little apprehensive. People told me what I could expect and I had memories of West Bladen from when I worked there before that were less than perfect to say the least. I knew it would be challenging, especially for a first year head coach, but what I discovered upon my arrival was an amazing school full of superb educators and outstanding young men and women. Every day I have had the opportunity to work with these outstanding people has been a pleasure. The administration is the best I have ever worked with, the teachers are compassionate and caring, and the students are exceptional in every sense of the word.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to resign from my position as head football coach due to unforeseen and personal family circumstances. The only reason that I would ever leave my West Bladen family and my community for a second time is for my childrens sake. I wanted to bring them to Bladen County and give them the same sort of amazing upbringing that I enjoyed here but unfortunately that will not be the case. While I will no longer be serving as the head football coach I will always be a West Bladen Knight. I will always bleed purple, black, and silver no matter where my future takes me. I want to thank all my coaches and players for their hard work, dedication, and loyalty during my time here. I can promise you that the administration will find the perfect candidate for the job and I will do everything in my power to ease the transition in the months to come. I know there is success in the future at West Bladen and it breaks my heart that I will not be able to be a part of it. Thank you administration, board members, and community for the amazing opportunity. Go Knights!

Sincerely,

Coach Todd Pait
