WIN an interior design course at KLC worth nearly £20,000

Ever dreamt of being an interior designer? This is your chance to win a fully funded place on a prestigious interior design course at KLC
Jon Day

For the past four years, House & Garden has worked with KLC, one of the country’s leading design schools, to offer a fully funded place on its Certificate Residential Interior Design course. This year, KLC has generously upgraded the prize by offering a place on its prestigious Diploma of Higher Education in Applied Interior Design. This course has kick-started the careers of many interior designers, including James Thurstan Waterworth (of Thurstan) and Emma Pocock (of Turner Pocock), both of whom have appeared in House & Garden’s Top 100 Interior Designers list.

This year’s competition is run in association with United in Design, a charity that aims to address the lack of diversity within the interior design industry, with the hope that their involvement will open up the competition to a wider audience. ‘The training and the connections you make at KLC provide a wonderful platform on which to forge a design career,’ says Alexandria Dauley, interior designer and co-founder of United in Design.

Aimed at career changers, the Diploma is designed to equip students with all the skills required to pursue a career in interior design. It is an intensive course, taught over three terms and aiming to emulate what it is like to work in an interior-design studio. Students will develop an understanding of what is required to create a successful residential or commercial interior – from lighting plans to joinery specifications – and learn all the rudiments of computer-aided design. ‘We’re looking for highly motivated, creative individuals who have a genuine passion for interior design,’ says Jenny Gibbs, founder and principal of KLC, who will be judging this year’s applications along with House & Garden editor Hatta Byng and Alexandria Dauley.

The prize

KLC’s Dip HE Applied Interior Design course, which is validated by the University of Brighton, is full time and runs from January 10-November 22, 2022. A place on the course is worth £19,945.
