Fire on 11th Street ruled accidental; family displaced

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A family has been displaced, but there were no injuries reported after a house fire at 617 S. 11th Street on Friday afternoon.
According to Wilmington Fire Department officials, the fire was under control as of 1 p.m. and the scene was cleared at 2:22.
The origin of the fire, which has been ruled accidental, was in the kitchen on the stove, and the cause was unattended cooking. Crews kept the fire damage confined to the kitchen, but there was smoke damage throughout the house. Damage estimates for contents and repairs is $10,000.
The American Red Cross was on scene to assist the family.
