Brighton HS principal named NY Principal of the Year

Brighton, N.Y. (WHAM) - The principal of Brighton High School is being recognized as the best in New York state.

The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) selected Dr. Tom Hall as the 2017 New York State High School Principal of the Year on Monday.

Factors in the nominating process include:

  • Nominee sets the pace, character, and quality of education for the children in the school
  • Nominee is a practicing principal of at least 3 years who is committed to excellence
  • Nominee has made a commitment to parents and the community
  • Nominee has shown evidence of outstanding contributions to the community and the educational process.

“Brighton High School has been my home for over 21 years,” Dr. Hall said. “I can honestly say that I love my job and love the people I get to work with each and every day. I am both humbled and honored to receive this recognition."

Dr. Hall served as a biology teacher at Brighton High School starting in 1996, became an assistant principal at Newark High School in 2001, then returned to Brighton High School in 2002 as an assistant principal.

Starting 2007, Dr. Hall served as French Road Elementary School's principal before moving to his current role in 2012.

SAANYS will be recognized at an awards reception in May.
