Irish Burger

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner which got me thinking about classic Irish food. Why not take some of that inspiration and make an Irish burger?!?!

There are a lot of good ingredients that could be used to make up an Irish burger. I’ve taken a few favorites to make this burger irresistible. Think of it as burger meets corned beef sandwich.

Corned Beef Topped Irish Burger

Corned beef is salt-cured beef, treated with large-grain ‘corns’ of salt. This was originally done to preserve the meat. Today corned beef has has become an Irish-American favorite. In the US, St. Patrick’s Day food often consists of corned beef sandwiches or corned beef and cabbage.

The best corned beef comes fresh from the deli and will make this burger awesome. Pile it as high as you want!

Guinness Mustard

Next up for Irish Burger ingredients is Guinness. The classic Irish beer is the #1 alcoholic drink in Ireland and popular world-wide. It’s crazy to think that this dry stout was first brewed in 1759.

You can drink a Guinness along with your Irish burger, but let’s also cook with it! Instead of using the standard mustard we’ll make Guinness mustard.

This doesn’t change the mustard too much, but it gives it a little bit of sweetness and richness. Simply add Guinness & brown sugar to coarse dijon mustard.

Finishing off the Irish Burger

A few finishing touches and our delicious burger ready to eat. First off we’ll add some Swiss cheese & thinly sliced onions to the burger.

Then we’ll toast up some marbled rye bread to put it on. You can do this by putting some butter in a pan or using a toaster. When making your burger, make sure to shape it to the size of your bread.
