It’s not cheap to cheer on your favorite NFL team at the stadium these days. In fact, the average cost of a ticket in 2015 costs well north of $200. And, if you live in Seattle, you are really feeling the pinch. Seahawks fans pay the highest prices of any other football fans in the league – a whopping $438. Hopefully, there’s not a bad seat in the house at CenturyLink Field.

If you are an NFL owner, what is your value proposition to the fan? How do you convince the average fan to get off the couch, leave the flat screen behind, and often times brave the cold to cheer on the home team in person? Well, it’s all about the experience. NFL teams are trying to up their games and increase the fan “wow factor” in order to motivate fans to pay good, hard money to line the seats. At the club level, this “wow factor” is even more critical because these tickets go at a premium.

No matter if a facility is older and undergoing renovation or brand spanking new, stadiums of all kinds are implementing LED displays in the club level to increase the value of that ticket and make fan engagement more exciting. We are in the process of working with the Jacksonville Jaguars to reinvigorate their club level and create a better experience for the fans. By incorporating digital display technology, the Jaguars will be able to give fans an experience they can’t get anywhere else, including utilizing augmented reality, virtual reality, and offering fans unique camera angles on each and every play. For example, the Jaguars are creating an entire “fantasy football” area so fans at the game can keep up with how their fantasy team is doing, based on all the other games going on in the league. And, we’ve done similar projects with great success with the Miami HEAT, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots.

Beyond heightening fan experience, there is so much upside for stadiums in implementing digital display technology. Every square inch of a professional arena is coveted real estate, and LED displays are lightweight, thin, flexible, and can be installed almost anywhere within an arena. They can turn “underutilized” space into an exciting experience, as in the XFINITY Plaza project we implemented at AmericanAirlines Arena. And, digital displays are energy efficient. SCORE!

Perhaps the biggest additional benefit of installing LED displays in arenas is the cash flow. Spaces decked out with digital signage not only create another revenue stream, in the form of advertising opportunities, but formerly underutilized space becomes beautiful and flexible, allowing arenas to rent out the spaces for special events, fundraisers, press conferences, and weddings.  Content on the displays can be customized with ease.
