We have been flooded with photos of kids enjoying World Book Day

Brummie mummies and daddies have really excelled themselves this year, coming up with some amazing creations.

There’s been everything from a papier mâché Greg The Wimpy Kid to a Cruella complete with a real life dalmatian.

But it seems parents have taken it a step further this year by sending their kids to school dressed as Donald Trump, Jesus and even The Bible!

Here, in no particular order, are our favourite World Book Day costumes of 2017 ...

The Bible

Phil Stevens' neice as The Bible

Not seen this one before.

Phil Stevens sent in a picture of his niece dressed as The Bible.

Wondered how she managed to eat her lunch today?

Donald Trump

Joel Whitfield as Donald Trump

Joel Whitfield, aged 11, went to school today as Donald Trump – and, in this great photo his mum Nuala sent in, he even has the pose right!

Nuala said: “Our son Joel Whitfield, age 11, as you know who. Originally he dressed like Trump for Halloween to scare people last October. To our horror he became president. So he decided to wear it for World Book Day.”

It might be an unusual choice, but there have certainly been plenty of books written about him!

Jesus

Ava Lennon as Jesus

Scott and Charlotte Lennon sent in this great photo of their daughter Ava dressed as none other than Jesus.

It turned out that Ava had not one but two World Book Day costumes.

Her second was the frightening Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

Cruella de Vil

Clare Bryden's daughter Freya as Cruella de Vil with Dexter the Dalmation!

Clare Bryden’s daughter Freya made a brilliant Cruella de Vil - complete with Dexter, the family’s six year old dalmatian!

Mum said she thought Dexter would have loved to have gone to school too.

Now that would have been fun.

The busker from Tabby McTat

Tom Benson as the busker from Tabby McTat

Love this interpretation of the busker from Julia Donaldson’s classic Tabby McTat.

Hope Tom Benson, aged seven, didn’t bang his head today at school like the busker did in the book!

Greg the Wimpy Kid

Lisa Williams' son as Greg The Wimpy Kid

Top marks here for the papier mâché work by Lisa Williams.

This is a real likeness to the classic Jeff Kinney character.

Timothy Pope from Shark in the Park and Polly Dunbar’s Penguin

Noah and Harry Thomas as Nick Sharratt's Shark in the Park and Polly Dunbar's Penguin

Now these boys’ costumes are amazing for three reasons.

Firstly, Noah’s telescope actually had a shark at the bottom when you looked through it.

Secondly, the costume featured a homemade shark.

And thirdly, mum Faith made the whole lot from scratch at midnight last night!

Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Libby Merchant as Violet from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Check out Libby Merchant as Violet in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

This is a great homemade costume.

Love the face paint Libby, that’s going to take some washing off tonight!

Stickman

Carter Rogers as Stickman

Another Julia Donaldson classic.

Carter Rogers got dressed up as Stickman for his World Book Day fun at school.

Great outfit Carter!

Oompa Loompa

Caitlin Price as an Oompa Loompa

This was the perfect outfit for Caitlin Price, especially as she was on her way to Cadbury World with her class today!

Her mum Gina posted: “My own Oompa Loompa Caitlin ready for World Book Day. She’s even on her way to a Cadbury World with her class. Wonder if she will make me some chocolate while there?”

Mr Bump and Little Miss Sunshine

Sam and Holly Ruffle as Mr Bump and Little Miss Sunshine

Sometimes the most simple costumes are the most effective.

Sam and Holly Ruffle look great as Mr Bump and Little Miss Sunshine.
