WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Emergency crews responded to a natural gas leak in Wilmington Friday morning.

According to officials, the leak was reported around 11 a.m. at 4600 Oleander Drive near the CVS.

Officials with the Wilmington Fire Department said a utility contractor was trying to locate a marked natural gas line when the probe they were using hit the line causing the leak.

No businesses were evacuated but FedEx employees were asked to shelter in place until the line could be repaired.

Crews from Piedmont Natural Gas arrived on scene and fixed the leak.

The eastbound lane of Oleander Drive at the intersection with South College Road was closed for about an hour so crews could complete the repairs.

No injuries were reported.
