Because of the size of our family (we’re six all together), we spend a lot of time shopping online looking for items that fit our family needs. We are frequent users of Amazon Prime, Walmart, & Target. So, when I heard that there was a service that to see if stores owe you refund, I couldn’t help but be intrigued.
My wife has been through the coupon clipping phase to see what she could do to help us save here and there. But couponing takes a lot of time. Fortunately with Paribus, we don’t have to worry!
Pronounced as PAIR – UH – BUS, their promise is to get you connected quickly so you can get back money that you already spent.
As the company states, they operate in the background so you can shop normally while they look for opportunities to get money back for you.
How could you not love that?
Before you get started:
After you sign up, Paribus requires that you give them access to the email you use when making the purchases. (No, you’re not reading that wrong.) You also have to manually link your Amazon account to your Paribus account. Finally, you’ll need to link a card for your refund.
The company founders promise that they do not go through your email, just your purchases. Even though the company has talked about this topic A LOT, it’s the first thing that resonates in your mind because face it, you’re worried about your privacy.
I do appreciate that the company goes out of its way to state its promise and take every attempt to address your concerns via their website. However, I cannot escape that gut feeling of worry.
Design:
I have to say that I’m impressed with the overall functionality of the app. It is easy to navigate back and forth throughout it. I love the design! You can tell that the founders of Paribus went out of their away to create and design an app that is easy to understand and navigate through.
Right from the start, I am able to see if I have any active purchases, pending refunds, and any items that are inactive.
What my wife and I enjoy is being able to see what we paid for an item and what “today’s current price” is. For example, my wife just recently bought a self tanner bronzing mousse on Amazon. She paid $23.08 and today it’s listed for $42.00!
The app also shows me the number of purchases that are logged. Plus, how many of them were purchased at lower prices, and if I have had any success with claiming refunds.
What’s interesting to see is the number of refunds that are being issued out under “price drops”. I am able to see where other users are getting their refunds and from what retailers. Another exciting feature in the app, is the ability to share or refer Paribus. It sits right at top encouraging you to refer, refer, refer.
Lastly, in settings, I can see what email address has been linked, as well as what card, and what retailer accounts are linked. The app also directs you to support for any questions you may have.
AutoPilot Your Refunds
I do feel that there needs tfor some clarification for users. It may take a moment for your purchases to show up in your app. I expected it to be immediate. But, it wasn’t until a few days later that I started seeing my purchases in the app. Those that are impatient, like me, might be concerned. I feel Paribus needs to explain that a little more and entice people with freebies and other offers.
Since signing up and downloading Paribus, I have gone back and checked it daily to see if I have any refunds for my purchases. Nothing yet, mostly because my main retailer is Amazon. It was just made known late last year that Amazon no longer offers price drop refunds (expect on TVs). That’s okay though. I am excited about the future possibilities with other retailers.
I love the fact that there is a service out there that monitors my purchases and attempts to get me a refund. Although this app is not for those that are looking for instant savings, its great to know that once I download Paribus it will search my purchases and catch any refunds that are out there.
