Oh La La! Baroque Opera @ French Fest, London

Zédel, a splendid art deco brasserie, is host to “French Fest” from 5 to 12 March 2017: eight days of music, opera, theater and comedy that will put French culture in the spotlight. On March 8, we highly recommend “Oh La La Baroque Opera!” an opera cabaret performed by the Clemens Non Papa Consort.

They will be revisiting a classic baroque work, “Les Plaisirs de Versailles”, composed in 1682 by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, a contemporary of Molière and Lully. The operetta takes us to Versailles, where the courtiers distract the king with music, games, discussions, and food, and rivaled each other in cunning to attract his attention. The characters confront each other to conquer the heart of the king.

The Clemens non Papa Consort was formed in 2004 with the ambition of discovering music from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Periods. The musicians are at the forefront of their professional career and thus interpret rare or unrecognized repertoires.

We particularly like this event because the performance will feature our very own French Language Pronunciation Track collaborator, Soprano, Elise Lefay. More information about this new range of tools for singers is in the pipeline. Watch this space!
