Suman Chakravartula from the Rockstor project, an open-source NAS (Network-attached storage) solution using the Linux kernel and Btrfs file system, announced the general availability of Rockstor 3.9.0.

Rockstor 3.9.0 is a major release of the operating system, shipping a little over three months after the last maintenance update to the Rockstor 3.8 series. The 3.9 branch has a lot of improvements to code quality, especially to the Python and Javascript stacks, as well as big enhancements to the disk management subsystem.

"Our community has been really active and we’ve prioritized nicely to improve on a few different areas. 5 contributors have come together for this release and besides working on new features and bug fixes, we made significant improvements to code quality," reads today's announcement.

29 issues have been addressed in Rockstor 3.9.0

The Rockstor 3.9.0 release closes a total of 29 issues that various contributors helped fix, which means that users will be able to enjoy fewer bugs the next time they upgrade their Rockstor systems. The full list of changes is attached below for your reading pleasure or if you're just curious to know what was fixed.

Among some of the changes that caught our attention we can mention that the update system was made non-disruptive and some Flake8 improvements were introduced, along with implementation of Gulp file testing, disablement of the delete button on the root and home shares, reversed rock-on share columns, as well as some extra documentation on the services page.

Rockstor 3.9.0 is available for download right now from our website as an ISO image that you can write on either a USB flash drive or a DVD disc. Those who have purchased a subscription for stable updates can now upgrade to version 3.9.0 directly from the web-based user interface.
