FORMER Somerset cricketer Ken Palmer has paid a warm tribute to his ex-teammate Chris Greetham, who passed away this week at the age of 80.
Palmer, who played with the all-rounder in the 1960s, said: “Chris was a great guy and one of the best.
"He could certainly hit the ball around would have been ideally suited to one-day cricket.
"If he was about today he would be worth quite a bit of money in the T20 and 50 over competitions.
“He was a really good fielder and sometimes if he wasn’t playing they would take him to away matches to come on a twelfth man rather than him play for the Seconds.
“We shared an unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 207 against Middlesex at Lord’s at the end of which Chris made an unbeaten century. It was great because we took control of the game.”
Palmer added: “He used to drive an Austin Healy sport’s car and in the winters he used to work as an extra for the films. Chris got on well with everybody who he met and will be sadly missed by all.”
