Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. Gorgeous painting. The detail is extraordinary and not just on the clothes. The furniture, the tablecloth, the window. I would love one like that! I would love one in every room if I could swing it. His expression is so earnest and hopeful. She looks more like she is in love with love, but not neceesssarily with him. The body language gives her away, so no wonder he looks anxious. The clothes remind me of The Three Musketeers: so beautiful and so unpractical. No wonder the wealthy hired people to dress them: it could not have been easy to dress themselves. How on earth did women breathe with the corsets? How did they sit down or breathe? How did she walk in those siIk slippers with the pointed toes? As a child I remember my mother wrestling herself into a girdle, and the high heels with the pointy toes. I swore I would never do that and I haven’t. Now my daughter and her friends wear Spanx and five inch heels!

  2. The intricate details in this painting is mind-blowing to me! Wow! Such talent! But I have come to adore many of his paintings — he is very good.I also thought of The Three Musketeers when I saw his clothing! Wonder if he has a hidden side where he goes out avenging his friends and love? (Hmmm…that would make him a bit like Bingley in tomorrow’s story….as does the fact that he is proposing 😉 ) I honestly cannot even imagine wearing clothing that is so restrictive! I like my comfy clothes far too much 🙂

  3. I love Soulacroix’s paintings, and his ‘Flirtations’ is the image on my website, my fan page, and my computer. He had a fantastic talent for the little details that made his beautiful paintings.
