When my babies were actual babies, I didn’t own a smartphone.

For reassurance I had to content myself with real life friends, which is fine, but there are really only so many times you can text a friend in the middle of the night to ask if you’re a rubbish parent.

How comforting it must be nowadays to be able to turn to something like Twitter and discover that everyone else is in the same boat.

You’re not the only one who finds parenting hard or dull or lonely or infuriating.

Twitter is a bit like statistics – you can validate anything if you just pick your proof carefully.
