What is Penn State's Thon? Check out this video for an explanation.

Thon is the world's largest student-run philanthropy, with over 16,500 students helping in the fight against childhood cancer. Thon has donated more than $136 million to Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital, funding comprehensive care and critical research.

Every year, a fundraising and awareness campaign raises money for the 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon that takes place in the Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State University in University Park, Pa.

The event begins Friday evening, Feb. 17, and continues through Sunday.
