I’m actually hoping that we don’t. I hate that trailers now a days give away everything. I’d rather that they save some of the surprise for the movie. By the last trailer of BvS they gave us the entire plot, it was like the Cliff’s notes version of the movie. There was almost no need to go see it, everything was handed to you, after the trailers everything about the movie was figured out before I even watched it.

I don’t think Superman returning in Justice League is a “surprise”.

Not his return in itself, no, we all knew that was coming when the dirt floated on his casket at the end of BvS. But his look, costume, hair, whatever, I’d like to wait until the movie to see. And the circumstances of his return I’d like to be a surprise, and if these trailers give away as much as the BvS trailers did we’ll know exactly how he comes back and why.

I’m guessing you didn’t already see the pictures, behind the scenes footage Snyder released and statues that already show all of this?

Well everything is on this site, it’s not pics of him coming back it’s pics of him after he does, it’s the same suit from BvS, just his hair is parted on the left instead of the right now.
The statue is shown in the article below this one on the front page.

For the footage released by Snyder at the :37 mark we see Henry in costume as Superman 1:05 minute mark we see Henry out of costume going past Flash acting goofy.

Best Part of The DC Movies are always the Trailers.

Man of Steel had some hype-inducing trailers, which made the actual movie all the more disappointing

I was more built-up for MOS than any other movie in years. Because that movie failed so badly at delivering the goods, it kinda permanently soured my expectations for anything from WB.
BvS pretty much confirmed what to expect from the studio — that’s why I can’t get excited about Justice League – something I never, ever thought I’d say.

I’m not sure if they will, considering how Dawn of Justice ended. I think they will mention him though. I feel fairly confident Superman’s return scene in the movie itself will deliver the goods.

Lets not be to overly negative. We haven’t really seen anything yet. At the very least, we have a movie on the way that has Superman in it so all the trouncing at this point appears to be generated for the sake of complaining before we’ve seen anything. I for one have to believe that we are going to be in for a great movie. Let’s all at least wait until we have something to see and comment on.

all the trouncing at this point appears to be generated for the sake of complaining No, no, and no. Let me clarify something that seems to be a common misconception. Speaking for myself – I LOVE the character Superman (otherwise, I wouldn’t be spending time on a Superman forum). I’m very, very excited that Superman is on the big screen — I hope he ALWAYS has a spot there. The thing is, I think the people handling this franchise TOTALLY don’t understand the character – AT ALL. Either that, or they just don’t like who the character is at the… Read more »

there are basic tenants of what makes up the Superman personae. If you discard those, you might as well just create a new character altogether I’m with you on that. Like if you made a movie about a whisky drinking, american muscle car driving, cheap women chasing, t-shirt and jeans wearing, loud mouthed secret agent called James Bond and said “it’s just a new take on the character.” But knowing how Snyder is HEAVY into religious symbolism, has stated that death will give Superman character development, when he comes back to life he will be Superman as we expect him.… Read more »

I don’t get all this “don’t show us Superman” and “I hope they show us Superman” commenting when they already have. The picture released moths ago had the whole team with Superman included, the behind the scenes footage released by Snyder shows Superman and the official DC Collectables for the film shows Superman. He’s wearing the same suit, he parts his hair on the other side, it’s over done with so it makes little difference of they do or don’t show him in the trailer. If you want to know what he’s going to look like, you can already see… Read more »

I think what most people mean by “don’t show him” is “don’t show his reveal” or something to that effect. While we do have the basic idea that he’ll come back, it would be nice if the trailers didn’t give the entire plot away this time.

That I can understand, don’t show the moment when he wakes from the dead, but I wouldn’t put it past them to show that.
But knowing how Snyder likes religious symbolism I’m guessing it involves Batman or someone going to Luthor to find out how he brought Zod back as Doomsday and Luthor tells him it takes the liquid, tech from the ship and about 72 hours.
In other words, baptize him and wait 3 days for his resurrection.

I don’t see religious symbolism as any focal point. It’s so spotty and only for a brief scenes that serve as a means to show desperation in which peoples lives are being threatened.

He’s not going to wake from the dead because he’s not really dead! So saying it’s a resurrection is way over the top and again attaching religion to environments that are in slight reference only.

I’m not sure how much that has to do with religious imagery; more likely it’s simply a product of having Geoff Johns involved. That guy just loves to impale and/or slice up super heroes.

Well I wasn’t intending to say that it was. I think how Superman’s resurrection happens will be filled with it though. As far as Geoff Johns goes, he was an executive producer and did not have the CEO of DC Entertainment (which isn’t strictly the films) until after the BvS reactions. And now I think he’s back out with little involvement with the DCEU. Two of his scripts (The Flash and possibly The Batman) were thrown out completely and he’s back at DC writing comics. I don’t think the direction he wanted to go jived well with WB higher ups.… Read more »

As far as Superman being stabbed by Doomsday it is inspired by the ending of Excalibur and to show how Zod killed both the father at the son the same way out of hate. That’s all fine and dandy, (and I agree with you with its inspiration) except he is dead by all accounts. More so than Zod ever was (what with the gaping hole through his body) and he will come back because of “reasons” that defy any sense of “realism” The filmmakers have dug there own grave on this. Like everything else about this universe it was poorly… Read more »

I’m saying he’s dead, as stated “he got stabbed through the chest, he dead” so how are we at a disagreement?
And he, he’s pretty much coming back when it’s convenient for the plot because reasons. I think he’s ultimately coming back to life the same way Zod came back to life, you just leave out the human blood that created the mutation.

So they just announced that Nightwing is getting a solo movie in addition to the batman movie being the ‘crown jewel of the DCEU’they better have something extremely amazing ready to announce after Justice League about Superman. Quality Director, better writer, solid release date. I have a really bad feeling though that he is going to fall to the way side in favor of other projects.

I said it before, they may be holding off saying anything official about MoS 2 until after JL due to him being “dead.” However, I feel that if nothing is announced after JL, by or before Comic-Con next year it’s not happening. As reported on here at the homepage Amy Adams said “It’s in discussion but there’s no script or official conversation.” Going to that picture of The Rock and Henry Cavill may just mean the next time we see Superman will be in the Black Adam movie. Also besides Aquaman and The Flash script being written by a guy… Read more »

i agree with you about them holding off until after Justice League, but I do hope they will have some sort of a plan in tact once that comes. I also agree about the writers they got for Aquaman and the Flash. Not sure why they keep reusing the same sub par people. I wish they would stop announcing all these movies and just concentrate on getting one absolutely right. Once they do that, everything should fall into place. I don’t know why they’re putting the cart before the horse with all these spin offs. I for one am not… Read more »

I agree, I’m suffering from Batman fatigue, but he makes WB money. I really think that old slate is gone now. I’m just putting 2 and 2 together and being a realist about it, not getting my hopes up. Looking at WB’s official film line up starting now to the end of 2020 it now says Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman and 5 untitled DC films. Green Lantern Corps, Cyborg and The Flash are not longer listed, only “Untitled DC Film.” This doesn’t include Black Adam and Shazam, those are on New Line’s film line up and are also in… Read more »

I don’t think Batman’s a shoe in. Unless it’s Lego Batman. “Best Batman seen since the Dark Knight trilogy”, the critics are saying. As far as Batman goes the third in that series had more plot holes than ten pieces of swiss cheese. But it didn’t get beat up the way BvS did. And the WB is a lot bigger than Marvel. Marvel only put only Marvel character movies while the WB has it’s hands in way more material that has nothing to do with superheros. The WB can afford to scrap this whole mess and move on. Regarding Superman… Read more »
