6 Kitchen Design Trends That Will Be Huge in 2017

Kitchen porn: It's a thing, and we're not ashamed to admit we regularly hole up in our dark living rooms looking at it until the wee hours of the morning. So whether you're in the market for a renovation or not, it's good to stay up on what's hot..and what's not. (Edison bulbs? So 2013.) Here, the top six trends of 2017.

8 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom For $100 (or Less)

If 2016 was the year of warm gray and charcoal, 2017 will go down as the year when equally cozy blues came into play. Pair navy bottoms with white uppers and brushed gold or bronze hardware. (How stunning is this kitchen courtesy of blogger Brittany Makes?) Major bonus points for a chic oriental rug.

Flat Front Cabinets

The bare-bones Nordic look has been in for some time. (We see you, blond woods and minimal embellishment.) Soon, you can expect that sleek approach to extend to islands and cabinetry. This Ikea kitchen is a breath of fresh air.

Less Conspicuous Appliances

Wine fridges and convection ovens are still all the rage, but this year, designers will be looking to subtly integrate them into existing kitchens. (Think smaller-sized fridges and microwaves set flush against the cabinets.)

Eclectic Tiles

Simple white subway tile isn't going anywhere, but we're loving the move toward colorful, patterned backsplashes that really pop and give an arty, European or Moroccan feel.

Statement Windows

This is a trend we can officially get behind: In an effort to bring in more light and make spaces feel all-around airier, architects are hanging windows higher, closer together and extending them all the way down to countertop level.

Rental-friendly Options

With more millennials eschewing traditional home ownership (hey, The New York Times already deemed it the "year of the renter"), we're expecting to see more short-term decorating solutions. Think: temporary laminate flooring, peel-and-stick backsplashes and even removable wallpaper for an accent wall or eating nook.
