Dong Energy will start preliminary installation works on the seabed next week for its 660MW Walney 3 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.

The Danish utility said full offshore construction will “begin soon”, with onshore work having started in December 2015.

Notices have been sent out to fishermen in the area regarding the start of the work, Dong said.

MHI Vestas will supply 40 V164 8MW turbines with a power mode to push capacity to 8.25MW to the first phase of project, while Siemens will deliver 47 7MW machines for the second phase.

The wind farm is scheduled to be generating power by 2019.
