The developers of the open-source and multi-platform MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) computer emulator application announced the availability of MAME 0.183.

MAME 0.183 is a maintenance and feature release of the software project that promises to add numerous functionality improvements, a bunch of bug fixes, and some new additions, such as support for some incredibly rare systems, including Omega, Dodge Man, Flash Boy, Sega Sonic Cosmo Fighter, Galaxy Games StarPak 3, and Puzznic.

"Omega is an Arkanoid-inspired arcade game with a production run of about ten boards. Dodge Man is a rare Omori title from 1983. The vertical version of Flash Boy, a DECO Cassette title that borrows more than a little from a well-known anime is another very rare game that was at risk of becoming nothing but a memory," reads the release announcement.

The new MAME release also adds support for various handheld/electronic toys games, among which we can mention Touch Me from Atari, Lakeside Le Boom, I Took a Lickin’ From a Chicken from LJN, as well as GAF Melody Madness. MAME 0.183 also addresses various issues that some users reported with modifiers, which didn't work properly in natural keyboard mode.

MAME now supports emulation of third-party version of the Amiga 1200 keyboard

Among other improvements implemented in the MAME 0.183 point release, we can mention support for emulating a third-party version of the Amiga 1200 keyboard, along with support for a bunch of language variants so you can use the keyboard with your favorite Workbench locale, and the ability to use the Zorba keyboard with luggable CP/M machines.

MAME should no longer crash when it encounters invalid cheats, it officially supports the Osborne-1 Nuevo Video 80-column modification, optimizes the netlist emulation, implements support for multi-part software list entries to be able to load each part on the right interface, improves audio support for various games, and emulates the Poly-Play light organ.

Last but not least, MAME 0.183 comes with brand-new Clipper CPU core and Interpro 2800 driver, protection MCU emulation support for the Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja and Bouncing Balls game, as well as support for C64 and VIC-20 speech synthesiser cartridges.
