Cypress aims FL-L flash at automotive, industrial and IoT

Cypress has added to its FL-L flash family with AEC-Q100 (automotive) qualified 64 and 128Mbit NOR memories with Quad SPI data transfer.

“Our family offers the highest reliability and enhanced security, along with the bandwidth and small form factor that high-performance applications require,” claimed Cypress vp Rainer Hoehler.

The firm is aiming them at driver assistance systems (ADASs), automotive instrument clusters, in-car infotainment systems, industrial control, smart factories, networking , IoT, video game consoles and set-top boxes.

Physical memory sectors are uniform at 4kbyte.

The 128Mbit and earlier 256Mbit FL-L memories transfer at: 133MHz single data rate (SDR) and 66MHz double data rate (DDR) for 67Mbit/s bandwidth. 64Mbit devices operate at 54MHz in DDR mode to deliver read bandwidth of 54Mbit/s.

The 128Mbit and 256Mbit devices programme at 0.30ms/256bytes, and erase in 50ms. Cypress has not provided the equivalent figures for the smaller part.

Operation is over -40°C to +125°C, and 64Mbit comes in and 4x4mm 8contact USON packages.

The 128Mbit is sampling in 24ball BGA, 8pin SOIC and 5x6mm WSONsame packages, and is scheduled for production in the second quarter of 2017.
