Bedford County leaders are developing plans to fix malfunctioning equipment at one of their high schools.

The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system at Liberty High School hasn't been working properly for the last couple of years.

Thursday night the Bedford County school board will consider hiring a contractor to make repairs.

The work could cost more than $500,000.

"The current system frequently fails in terms of the piping that runs underneath the campus," explained Bedford County school superintendent, Doug Schuch. "It's a pretty complex endeavor."

If the school board decides to move forward with the HVAC work, repairs will be made over the summer.
