Hotel Jen is launching a new initiative to help its adventurous guests get off the tired old tourism trail with the help of savvy local food fans and culture gurus.

Beginning in early February, the website for every Hotel Jen property will feature a unique interactive map that continuously aggregates data from social media check-ins and selected hashtags. By going live each evening just after sunset, Hotel Jen’s first-of-its-kind Night Light Map will give guests insider recommendations for the latest and most interesting after-dark events and happenings in the city, often just a few footsteps from their guestrooms.

“Through our new experimental ‘Night Light’ program, we are encouraging our guests to head out and explore the thriving activities that each destination has to offer between sunset and sunrise,” says Marisa Aranha, vice president of sales and marketing at Hotel Jen. “There’s more to a city after dark than what’s featured in conventional guide books. We want to provide a new outlook for busy business travelers, genuine night owls and curious families through our exclusive insider insights.”

Hotel Jen is the newest hotel brand from the celebrated Shangri-La Group, featuring a stylish collection of exciting four-star hotels with a fresh design vision, friendly service, and fuss-free attitude. Hotel Jen properties feature a number of complimentary services like Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and charging stations for mobile devices in public areas. In the morning, for guests in a rush, there’s takeaway coffee and breakfast boxes. Hotel Jen also takes a modern approach to having newspapers available by offering the PressReader app, a mobile app with free access to 2,500 online publications.

Hotel Jen properties are located across the Asia-Pacific region, from Hong Kong and Singapore to Brisbane, the Maldives and the Philippines. There are also more Hotel Jen properties coming soon, including Beijing (2017) and Kota Kinabala (2018).

Hotel Jen’s Night Light Map is uber-simple to use, so guests have easy access to Asia’s best after-dark delights. Including, yes, its best-kept secrets. The Night Light Map’s trusted information sources are all savvy local insiders, including a wide range of native-born food fans, history lovers and culture vultures. All of them are keen to help adventurous visitors comfortably enjoy the best and most exciting things to do in their home towns. This network of homegrown experts, recruited by Hotel Jen are known as “Jensetters.”

Hotel Jen’s Night Light Events

In addition to its innovative interactive map, from February onwards, each Hotel Jen will offer regular after-dark group events for guests, either at the hotel or around the city. They will range from salsa dance lessons under a sultry moon in Singapore, to night-time walks high atop Hong Kong’s misty Victoria Peak, to an energetic sunrise workout with a certified fitness trainer in Brisbane.

Some of the experiences that guests can explore with the guidance of Jensetters will revolve around art and introduce them to emerging new artists; and local cuisine highlighting home-grown food producers and interesting new flavors with a twist.

“At Hotel Jen we cater to urban adventurers who are passionate about discovering new places and experiencing new cultures first-hand,” says Aranha. “With the Night Light program, now guests of Hotel Jen will be able to discover Asia in a more immersive and authentic way.”
