Malaysians abroad, especially students are encouraged to give their views towards enhancing the quality of education in line with the direction of the 2050 National Transformation (TN50).
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the ministry welcomed views to improve the Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2025), to make the Malaysian education system be on par with that of the United Kingdom, Japan and Korea.
He said that young people today, including students abroad who would be the backbone of TN50 had to appreciate the programme to help mould the country.
"Your views are for the benefit of us all, not to mention you all are abroad and can see how the education system is there," he said at a dialogue with Malaysian students and the community at Malaysia Hall, London, United Kingdom, Sunday.
In a statement Monday, he said more than 100 Malaysian students and members of the community attended the dialogue on current issues and the latest developments on policies and the transformation of the national education.
Mahdzir said the Education Blueprint 2013-2025 correlated with the ministry's efforts in achieving the education goal for all, namely one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030 as proposed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
"This means that by 2030, all children have access to early development, care and quality preschool education so that they are ready for primary education," he said.
He said the ministry would strive to ensure all children had the right to 100 percent education, even when there were still students who resided in the interior who did not get access to education.
"I see the education system also needs to be changed including improving the quality of teachers.
"What is most important for me is that teachers today can no longer teach the syllabus alone but must also pay attention to the future of the students," he said.
Mahdzir is in London to attend the World Education Forum, being held for three days starting Monday. - BERNAMA
