[San Antonio, TX | February 2, 2017] -- This spring, Gemini Ink is collaborating with Sarah Colby, the wife of an active-duty Chaplain and mother to a son in the Navy, to start a monthly veterans writing group that will begin on Wednesday, February 15th and continue the third Wednesday of each month through June. The collective is free to members of Gemini Ink and is designed to encourage a constructive, supportive writing environment and community. It is open to all active military, veterans, and immediate family members and geared to writers of all levels working in all genres, including poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, drama, and journaling.
The first workshop will take place on Wednesday, February 15th and will be held in subsequent months on March 15th, April 19th, May 17th, and June 21st. Each workshop will run from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Gemini Ink located at 1111 Navarro Street.
Colby’s war-time experiences have motivated her to be a voice for the mostly untold stories of families and loved ones during these years of protracted conflict, and to encourage others to share their experiences. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Sierra Nevada College. She has been an area representative of the North Carolina Writers Network, mentor of the Sandhills Salon writer’s group, and active in several other writer’s groups and collaborative projects. We are excited to be working with her and look forward to reaching out to the military community here in San Antonio through this monthly collective.
