February 8, 2017

By Greg Scoblete

Contrary to what the Las Vegas tourism board would have you believe, what happens in Vegas doesn’t have to stay in Vegas.

If you couldn’t make it to WPPI’s Launch Pad product preview, here’s a quick look at some of the cool stuff we spotted.

Illuminati Light and Color Reader

Unlike the secret society, the Illuminati exposure and color reader works right out in the open. It connects to your smart phone or tablet and measures ambient, continuous and strobe lighting. You can connect multiple Illuminatis to a single smartphone and operate the device through an app interface. It has a small magnetic connector so you can easily clip the device to a subject or a magnet-friendly surface. The Illuminati has an operating range of 80 feet and can connect to flashes via 3.5mm sync cord. It will ship in the summer for $250.

Scroll Motion Ingage

Ingage is a new iPad presentation app that lets you show off your photos in a slick interface. The template-based app supports stills and videos and automatically builds a responsive HTML version of your presentation so you can quickly share it from your iPad out to any device via email, text message or out to Facebook and Twitter. You can add pop-up text to images, 360-degree images and side-by-side photos to your presentation as well. Ingage is integrated with ShutterStock if you need to purchase stock imagery directly from within the app. The app is free but you can subscribe for $15/month to gain access to additional features such as email capture and the ability to build pages with an unlimited number of assets.

Acrylic Press Rose Engraving

If you don’t know what a Master Intaglia is, don’t worry, you’re not alone. There aren’t many of them at work in the world but one of them happens to be in the employ of AcrylicPress.com. Intaglia is the art of carving intricate patterns into stone, acrylic or other rigid materials. At Launch Pad, the company showed off a new product that combines intricately etched roses with a photo print. The roses can be red or white and given that they’re all hand carved, each is unique.
