Star Trek retains a strong and enduring fanbase decades after the series originally aired with William Shatner at the helm. Now Amazon is looking to tap into this group with a new update to Alexa, its home assistant.

The system, which can be conversed with through Internet of Things enabled speaker, can now be addressed as 'computer' as members of Star Fleet do in the show.

Before the latest update, users could only get the assistant’s attention addressing it as Alexa, Amazon or Echo. In order to adopt the settings, users will have to add computer to the ‘Wake Word’ setting.

It’s just one of the many geeky Easter Eggs on the system, including, but hardly limited to Star Trek references: “’Alexa, beam me up’, ‘Alexa, set phasers to kill’ and ‘Alexa. Tea. Earl Grey. Hot’” reports Cnet.
