The cringe-worthy spectacle in Guildford high street, Surrey, was caught on camera by property maintenance director Lee Smith at 2pm last week (Dec 19) as he sat in his van eating lunch. Lee captured the womanís attempts to navigate the green hatchback into the roomy space and provided a hilarious running commentary from inside his own vehicle. In between bursts of laughing Lee offered instructions on how to park while his work colleague suggested she needed BINOCULARS to help her out.SEE MERCURY COPY

A man has filmed a woman trying to get into a parking space using no less than 18 manoeuvres over a seven-minute period.

The woman’s struggles were filmed in Guildford High Street just before Christmas by Lee Smith who continued to eat his KFC lunch and give a running commentary while he watched.

Lee, 36, said: ‘I’ve never seen anything like it. She doesn’t do women drivers any favours by trying to park like that.

‘It’s some of the funniest stuff I’ve seen on the road. If she’d done the manoeuvre once or twice that would be fine but this was for seven minutes.’

He added: ‘It was five minutes on the nose from me starting filming to when the lady, who I’m assuming is her mum, gets out of the car.

‘This had been going on for two or three minutes before I started filming – she was just doing the exact same manoeuvre over and over and over again.

‘At the beginning of the video you can hear us laughing quite loudly as we were already warmed up from watching this unfold.

‘She keeps opening her door and looking out to see how far she is instead of using her mirrors and windows which is what normal drivers seem to think they are for.’

Eventually the driver hops out to help an elderly lady out of the car and onto the pavement.

Lee said: ‘Her passenger seemed really embarrassed as if she was saying ‘get me the hell out of this car’.

‘The driver was obviously trying to make it easier for the lady to get out of the car but because her back end is sticking out so much she had to get out in the road and could have got knocked over.’

Once the passenger is safely on the pavement the driver gets back in again and within a few manoeuvres manages to successfully park.

The pair can be heard cheering and clapping as the clip ends.

Lee said: ‘She doesn’t even notice we’re watching her or if she does she doesn’t let on – she doesn’t put her head down or look embarrassed. My advice to her would be to get someone else to park it.’
