15 feet of snow has fallen at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows since the beginning of the New Year, topping the resort’s 45-year historic record for January snowfall of 175 inches during the 1981-82 season. The resort has already reached two thirds of its average annual snowfall of 450 inches with months left to go in the season and is gearing up to once again host the longest season in Tahoe. Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is open with top to bottom skiing and riding at both mountains, on one lift ticket or season pass. Terrain will continue to open as resort teams work hard to dig out buried chairlifts.

180″ of snow so far this month and its only the 16th of January. 2017 is off to a great start and it’s only going to get better with successive storms moving in later this week. Squaw Valley has received two-thirds of their season average snowfall already and there’s still 3-4+ months left in the season, we can’t wait to see where they end up for the season.
I love this website, but this is fake news. No record has been smashed. Alpine stands at 126″ according to its website. That’s 49″ short of their January record of 175″. I would love to see another 4 feet this month, then we can celebrate. Historically, the snowfall has been tracked at the base of the mountain. Recently, they have been posting top of the mountain numbers.
