It's that time of year again for us Jets Fans, and if Max allows it I will happily do as I've done in years past and manage/update this (hopefully stickied/pinned) thread.

As in years past, if I am missing something, please feel free to post in here and update it.

This is a thread for actual moves/changes, confirmed news, not speculation.  OP will only be updated as moves become official.

Much thanks!

I did it at JI for (if I recall) five or so seasons, and I did it a few years here (not 2016 tho).

People always seemed to find it useful to have a pinned reference thread, so I hope this is something folks want again.

It's just a litle something I can do to repay Max for all his years of providing JN and his friendship to us fans and me in particular.

Is it considered a loss if the player that leaves sucks such as Fitz and Geno, or is that considered a gain?

Loss simply indicates they left the team/roster.  Nothing more, nothing less.

The same way it's still a "gain" if we sign some loser or has-been or chucklehead we all know won't work out.

This is not in any way a judgement thread, just a reference thread.  A rule I only ever broke once (Mike Vick) and which won't be repeated.

And yes, this gets asked every year :P

I don;t think we technically have a 4th round pick just yet do we?  Only if we do indeed get a comp pick, but we won;t know that for sure until owners meetings in march.

Nope.  We don't.  I just got the list and specific picks, and I'll update it in a bit (I'm locked out of the OP currently, but no fears, Max is on the case!)

Still really just setting up the OP at current, usually takes a day or two to get the general format and base-info (i.e. picks, FA info, etc) up and set.

Thanks for keeping up the JI tradition WF.

I guess we can officially put Chan up as a loss.

It's my pleasure.

And yep, I'll add Chan later this evening, Max is working to get me permanent editing access to the OP.

Thanks!

We have signed WR Frankie Hammond to a reserve/future contract. DETAILS → http://nyj.social/2jhHCDw

The Jets have signed WR Frankie Hammond to a reserve/future contract.

The third-year player originally signed with the Chiefs in 2013 after going undrafted. Hammond spent his rookie campaign on Kansas City’s practice squad and made his pro debut in Week 1 the following year as a receiver and returner. In two seasons on the Chiefs’ active roster, the 6’1”, 184-pound Hammond appeared in 25 games and averaged 10.9 yards per punt return. He spent the 2016 season on KC’s P-squad.

The Florida product registered 63 receptions for 812 yards and six touchdowns during his time in Gainesville (2009-2012).

It's funny, the one thing I do hate about doing this thread every year......is the mountain of clear-cut nobodies and camp-fodder we sign/cut/sign/cut/etc.

In past years I simply ignored players like these, same as I generally skipped the UDFA's.  Maybe one makes the team every year.

Hell, even the "official" sources, like NFl.com, ESPN and CBS ignore (and fail to list) half these moves, LOL!

But I'm going to try and keep up this year and do um' all.  We'll see how it goes :)

Thanks for helping me keep track C Mart, it's appreciated!

You're kidding?  128 and I love them!  Why else would you want to do this type of thread?  Plenty of these guys make the team, it just usually takes some time for them to make and impact.  Miles, Qvale, Anderson, Jalin Marshall, Roberts, Marcus WIlliams, Ronald and Josh Martin, Anthony and Wes Johnson, Bostick, Wilds.  These guys all played some decent downs this season.  Much of that is due to the Jets having sh*tty talent, but that just means there will be more slots open for 2017.  Sure 95% of the time when you see one on the field we are screaming about the Jets neglecting the position for decades in the draft, but every now and then one turns out to be Taylor Gabriel

FWIW, Hammond has been in the league for a few years and has actually caught a few passes.  I guess they envision him as a potential punt returner, since he has apparently reliably done that for a couple of years.  Guy is getting a little old to take a flier on (27) maybe @JiF knows more about him since he was a Gator. The Chiefs didn't have much use for him there with Tyreek Hill blowing up,  Have to wonder if De'Anthony Thomas will be on the market this offseason for the same reason.

Perennial under achiever in college.  He was always the guy to have a break out season and just do nothing.  He came in with a ton of hype, had one of those sick high school youtube videos but was just an absolute dud in school.    I was shocked to find out he made the Chiefs roster, to be honest.  I dont really know why or how too.  He doesnt do anything well.  He was a terrible WR and even worse returner.  Maybe he's a good gunner?  I really have no clue how Frankie Hammond Jr. in the NFL.  It's shocking to be honest.

Lol, to track the coaches and players that matter!  Not a one of those folks currently listed as "futures" deals matter that much tnqh, and if experience tells me anything most of these futures guys won;t even be Jets 3 months from now, as these guys get churned and turned regularly as other long-shots the FO likes more become available.  Not one will be a contributor outside some disaster, and if they wind up on the active roster, they'll either never play a down or play only a few downs here and there on specials.  They're fringe camp bodies, generally.  Glorified tackling dummies.:P

Like I said, I'll make an effort this year to do more on them in terms of listing their comings and goings and coming and goings (mostly goings) as I can, but the purpose of the thread is generally to cover the movement of players who matter, not the 20+ guys who will never ever be more than camp fodder before cut down day.

FWIW, the Jets first run of futures contracts for 2016 included Howshare, Stanford, Simon and Bostick.  That group alone accounted for 43 games played and 9 starts.  299 offensive snaps, 448 defensive snaps and 479 special teams snaps.  That is 1,226 total snaps. Futures contracts matters!

I literally have no idea who any of those people are.  Shows what kind of impact they had in those 1,226 epic snaps.:P

No worries, I'll track as best I can.  But forgive me if I don't get worked up over....lets see.....Myles White.
