Tyneside financial firm True Potential is bidding to be crowned the UK’s National Public Champion at this year’s European Business Awards.

The awards, which are the largest of their kind in Europe, was set up to support the development of a stronger business community throughout the continent. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the awards.

True Potential needs to attract a high number of public votes to progress to the next round of the competition.

Voting opened on January 9th and runs for seven weeks.

David Harrison, managing partner at True Potential, said: “This is our tenth year in business so it would be fantastic to be named the UK’s National Public Champion in the same year. Although we do business throughout the UK, we’re a North East company at heart and always will be.

“Our success is down to the hundreds of local people who work tirelessly and the outstanding universities on our doorstep that produce some of the best graduates anywhere. We want to win this for the region as much as ourselves.”

True Potential’s turnover reached £56.7m in 2015, 106% higher than in 2013. Profit also climbed in the by 133% from £5.3m to £12.4m over the same period.

Over 350 businesses over 34 countries are competing to become the National Champion of their home country, with the company with the most votes taking the title.

Following the first round each National Champion will then compete to become the European Public Champion.

The final results will be announced at The European Business Awards Gala Final in the spring.
