Here Come the Boys: Rami Malek and Co. for Dior Homme

Dior Homme has unveiled its spring campaign. Reaching out to multiple generations in one swoop, it features Culture Club’s Boy George (55), Egyptian-American Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek (35), and rapper A$AP Rocky (28). The series was shot by photographer Willy Vanderperre and commissioned by Kris Van Assche, the fashion house’s menswear creative director. The campaign is accompanied by the launch of the Dior Homme Instagram account, and a series of abstract videos that merge the worlds of ‘80s nostalgia, hip hop royalty, and Hollywood.

A$AP Rocky’s sartorial styling showcases rough-cut tailoring from the spring collection with customized punk Toru Kamei souvenir pins, styled by Olivier Rizzo. The rapper previously appeared alongside filmmaker Larry Clark, French actor Rod Paradot, and model Dylan Roques in the Fall 2016 campaign. Van Assche told WWD: “I don’t really like this idea of working with people for a few months and then moving on to other people––it’s not just about finding a famous face and putting a logo on it.”

This time, the rapper is pictured alone on the streets of Paris, while Boy George––Van Assche’s childhood hero––and Rami Malek were shot in a studio. Recently, Malek was nominated for Best Actor in a Television Series at the Golden Globe Awards 2017; naturally, he wore Dior Homme on the red carpet.
