A Johnstown man, once accused of impersonating a bounty hunter, was jailed Tuesday, accused of threatening to kill someone who made fun of his girlfriend on social media, authorities said.

City police charged John Matthew Chapman, 37, of the 600 block of Highland Avenue with terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.

City police had been searching for Chapman since the Nov. 6 incident at the Solomon Homes.

In a criminal complaint, Chapman told police that "individuals were making fun of his girlfriend on Facebook."

Police allege Chapman threatened to shoot someone with a shotgun, but no weapon was found.

Chapman was arraigned by on-call District Judge Kevin Price of Johnstown and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $10,000 bond.

Chapman, who was enamored with the cable TV show "Dog the Bounty Hunter," was charged by Richland Township police in April 2006 with counts related to impersonating a bounty hunter.

At the time, police said Chapman had created a fake bail-bond agency called Chapman Bail Bonds, manufactured a fake photo ID calling himself a bail-enforcement agent, and carried a fake badge and handcuffs.

The scheme began to unravel when a girlfriend of Chapman wrote a bad check for a cellphone purchased at The Galleria in Richland Township.

Richland police said Chapman then showed up at the store, flashed his fake ID and told employees that the woman was a bail jumper and that he was searching for her.

Chapman allegedly expected the store would not pursue the bad-check charge. Store employees did not believe his story and called mall security.

Chapman was sentenced to probation.
