TOKYO -- Amazon Japan will seek out startups with unique and cutting-edge products and provide funding and distribution assistance, the online retail giant announced Wednesday, aiming to sell exciting but unknown goods at home and abroad.
The venture funding program, called Launchpad, will sell a range of some 250 products at first. Through it, the company intends to "introduce highly original and interesting products to customers," said Jasper Cheung, Amazon Japan president.
