A happy Diggerland XL visitor

At the end of Office Space, our hero Peter leaves his life of drudgery at a tech job for work in construction. "Makin' bucks, gettin' exercise, workin' outside," he says. Those simple joys are also the premise behind Diggerland XL, a new theme park based on the idea of building things and knocking them down.

The New Jersey-based Diggerland XL is a spinoff of Diggerland USA. The original park is geared towards children and lets kids use diggers and ride off road. Since the park opened in 2014 it has "received hundreds of inquiries asking if our construction theme park is suitable for adults," said Ilya Girlya, a co-owner of Diggerland. So, the new park is only for those 18 and over.

Since it's for adults, Diggerland XL is less of a theme park than USA, lacking merry-go-rounds and arcades, and more of a sandbox. It's main attractions are three professional-grade John Deere machines: a wheel loader, an excavator, and a bulldozer. The park promises activities such as Jenga with hundreds of gallons of water and moving and destroying mountains of dirt, all under the careful supervision of what one must imagine is a very patient foreman. It all sounds fun, but the moment they start allowing bulldozer fights is when the park will really take off.
