I wanted to start a new thing for Caffeinated Thoughts, a weekly featured sermon that we will publish on Sundays. I wanted to start this off with a sermon from my home church – Grace Church in Des Moines, IA. This is sermon from today given by Pastor Matt Agee, the young adult pastor at Grace Church.Ā Matt joined the Grace staff in the summer ofĀ 2016. Matt is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and holds a Master’s Degree in Christian Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He preached from Psalm 121. You can download and print a sermon notes sheet here or read the outline and scripture passage below.

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?

2 My help comes from the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot be moved;

he who keeps you will not slumber.

4 Behold, he who keeps Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your keeper;

the Lord is your shade on your right hand.

6 The sun shall not strike you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;

he will keep your life.

8 The Lord will keep

your going out and your coming in

from this time forth and forevermore, (Psalm 121:1-8, ESV).

“Our Help Comes From the Lord.”

b. His presence is constant. (v.6)

4. Behold His Protection:

a. His protection is absolute. (v.7)

b. He is faithful now and forever. (v.8)

Applying Psalm 121:

  • Letā€™s be quick to acknowledge our need for help.
  • Letā€™s rest confidently in the faithfulness of our God.
  • Letā€™s journey on.
