Just one week before the release of the much anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Trump supporters have taken to Twitter to declare their intent to boycott the release of Rogue One.

The hashtag #DumpStarWars began on Thursday morning (November 8) with Trump supporters claiming that the film was somehow reshot to add in anti-Trump scenes, despite the reshoots happening months before November's presidential election.

One Twitter user, Jack Posobiac, who is listed as the special projects director for a group called 'Citizens for Trump', is said to have started the hashtag after tweeting that the writers "rewrote and reshot Rogue One to add in Anti Trump scenes".

He also told Esquire: "I started [the hashtag] this morning with a Periscope in response to the writers of Rogue One calling Trump a Nazi."

It looks like Rogue One did actually undergo reshoots but there is no evidence that this is to add anti-Trump slurs. A Disney representative has denied the allegations that the plot of Rogue One was changed in post-production reshoots, adding that the reports are completely untrue. Obviously.

How the fictional world of Star Wars is supposed to reference Trump is anyone's guess, unless Darth Vader removes his helmet to reveal a shock of orange hair.

No doubt adding to the fire, when Trump won the election, screenwriter Chris Weitz tweeted what could be interpreted as anti-Trump messages, including that "the Empire is a white supremacist [human] organization".

Weitz has tweeted in response to Posobiac's claims saying: "A thought for the end of the day: @jackprosobiec is a liar. But then you know that, Jack."

Digital Spy has rounded up what each side have had to say about the hashtag #DumpStarWars.
