MY BRA STRAPS KEEP FALLING DOWN MY ARMS A safety pin on the inside of your garment will keep that rogue bra strap in place. If you don’t want to make a hole in your clothes, try doublesided tape. MY BUTTON IS FALLING OFF Try to hook as much of the cotton back into the button hole as you can and then paint clear nail varnish over the top. This will hold your cotton in place until you can fix it properly. MY HEM HAS FALLEN DOWN You can either use double-sided tape (we like Hollywood Fashion Tape, $7.50, which comes in its own very chic handbag friendly tin) for ‘inside’ the hem, or just Scotch tape the top of the hem to the inside of your trouser leg/skirt. MY ZIP IS STUCK There are two methods for curing this. Try running a lead pencil up and down the zip; it should give your zip a bit of slip to get it moving. Similarly, soap will loosen up the zip and get it going again. I’M SHOWING TOO MUCH CLEAVAGE Our old friend the safety pin can spare your blushes and keep your top a little nearer together. I’VE GOT MAKEUP ON MY CLOTHES Small-packs of detergent wipes are readily available and should do a good job of temporarily cleaning the area. I’VE SUCCUMBED TO STATIC CLING Slip into the ladies room, take off the offending item of clothing, and give it a good shake. Hopefully this should do the trick. If you happen to have a metal coat hanger on you, rub it onto the inside of your clothes. I’VE GOT DEODORANT STREAKS ON THE ARMPITS OF MY TOP Keep a deodorant remover stick in your purse or your office drawer: something like the Gal Pal Garment Deodorant Remover ($11 for 2 at beauty.com). Alternatively, try rubbing the fabric together to rub the stain off. Or baby wipes can do the trick. 18 | triangle style

Tea tree oil is a purified extract of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant, a native of Australia. It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine as a natural skincare and beauty treatment. As is so often the case, science has only recently started to catch up and verify the usefulness of this ancient oil, exploring the more than one hundred identified biological compounds it contains While traditional uses range from soothing coughs to dressing wounds, it is in the area of beauty care that tea tree oil is now most widely known. It has the following strong benefits for skin, hair, lips, and nails: Warning: Tea tree oil has powerful properties and should never be taken internally. A very small number of people can exhibit a serious allergic reaction if the oil is consumed in any quantity, although it is perfectly safe when used as directed.
NATURAL SKIN CARE Tea tree oil contains natural antibacterial agents known as terpenes, which makes it a great general cleanser as well as an effective treatment for acne and some fungal infections. It can be dabbed directly onto warts, pimples, or cold sores using a cotton bud to reduce swelling and speed up healing. However, it shouldn't be applied undiluted to ordinary skin as it can act as an irritant in high concentrations. Instead, add a few drops of the oil to your normal non-medicated face wash to help keep your skin free of the bacteria that can provoke pimples and acne outbreaks.
HEALTHIER HAIR This essential oil is also a valuable addition to your hair care routine. Once a week, simply blend a few drops into a neutral carrier such as coconut or olive oil then massage the mixture into your scalp. Leave for half an hour before washing it out with a mild shampoo and warm water. This will unclog your follicles to promote healthy, lush hair growth as well as nourishing the hair roots to provide body and shine. The antibacterial terpenes in tea tree oil will also reduce scalp irritation and dandruff so, if you suffer from this, mix a drop or two into your usual non-medicated shampoo. CHAPPED LIPS Tea tree oil combines antibacterial and antiseptic actions with an ability to reduce swelling and inflammation. This makes it ideal for treating chapped and sore lips. To use, mix the oil with a neutral carrier oil, using approximately one part tea tree oil to 20 parts of carrier. Gently massage in to the affected areas. Never use pure oil directly on chapped lips or other broken skin as it can cause a very uncomfortable burning sensation. For ongoing healthy lips, mix a small amount of tea tree oil into your regular lip balm and use as normal.
NAILS The oil's powerful anti-fungal and antiseptic actions makes it ideal for treating nail infections and discolorations. Apply a small drop straight on to the discolored area of the nail, or again mix with neutral oil for a more general preventative treatment to keep nails healthy, strong, and fungus free.

MY TAKE First of all, my Scottish roots fight a tan, naturally, so I generally turn out an embarrassing and obvious shade of orange when I try self-tanners.
So, expectations were low with another self-tanner – after all, how well could a product work that you wash off 3 minutes after applying anyway? I was pleasantly surprised when I was more of a sun-kissed color and didn’t smell musty! It did take 2 to 3 applications for noticeable results. And I would highly advise using the mitt or washing your hands THOROUGHLY after applying or it will turn your nails a “not so healthy” yellowish tint.
TRIANGLE STYLE RATING I’m giving St. Tropez Gradual Tan in Shower Lotion, 3.5 stars. It was ALMOST a 4, but the upkeep that gets expensive over time and due to the fact that if you skip an application, it starts to fade pretty quick, I had to drop the rating. If you are heading to the Caribbean and need a good week-long tan that looks natural – this is a GREAT buy to try! ssss
Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil
CLAIMS TO “This feather-light treatment oil rapidly absorbs to reinforce the skin’s protective barrier. Wear it alone or layered under foundation for all-day dewy skin.” It goes on to claim the “luminous and hydrating” title along with ingredients that are safe and healthy for your skin. MY TAKE Dry skin is another nemesis in the winter and I do not want overpriced moisturizers that I need to keep applying all day, Enter: Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil. The word “oil” threw me a bit as I typically have oily skin and still break out from time to time. So I hesitantly took the advice of a make-up artist I trusted…and am SO glad I did! I L-O-V-E this product. It is now a permanent staple in my stable of skin care products. It is PRICEY, but I found a small version on Amazon for $8.25 (I am becoming the Amazon Queen). This oil creates a dewy finish without looking “shiny” or oily. It is perfect under foundation and lasts! TRIANGLE STYLE RATING 4.5 STARS! I wish you a dry-skin-free Christmas and this is a definite way to prevent just that. A super stocking stuffer that you will use year round – and as the lady who introduced this product to me said: “Apply it at night and when you wake up in the morning, it looks like you drank a gallon of water!” sssss

Georgeta is certified from Branko Babic Academy, a world renowned academy that is the leading expert in eyebrows. Eyebrow Microblading is semi-permanent makeup technique that creates hyper realistic eyebrows using manual skill without a machine. Georgeta corrects missing, thin or misshaped eyebrows by using ink on the top layer of the skin to craft the perfect eyebrow. This results in very natural looking eyebrows. What can be expected from this treatment (any pain, side effects, recovery time)? Only good things are to be expected! After our consultation, I begin to draw the outlines of the eyebrow shape that will suit your face. Throughout this process I keep up to date with the client to ensure that he or she is happy with the shape and color. After we’ve adjusted accordingly and the client is satisfied, we do the procedure. Some clients say that microblading feels similar to tweezing, with minimal pinching. There are also minimal side effects, although some clients report slight redness and scabbing around the area, but this is temporary. Of course, care must be followed after the procedure to prevent infection and to allow the color to settle. What is the average cost of treatment? The treatment begins at $450. This includes the initial consultation, the procedure and touch up for up to five weeks afterward. What are your clients saying about it? Clients love the results! Despite some hesitation in the beginning and during
healing, they are very happy with the resulting look. The ink can fade a bit following the procedure which is why touch up is included in the price. A bed frame with built-in drawers can eliminate the need for a space-hogging dresser or wardrobe, and a bookcase headboard can reduce the need for additional shelving and storage space. • USE WALL-MOUNTED SHELVES - Wallmounted shelves can maximize storage space while making the room look larger and roomier. ReďŹ nishing Furniture: Spray Paint vs. Brush-On Paint
Spoiler: The best type of paint for a project depends on what's most important to you: the color, mess, time involved, or ďŹ nished look. And what's best for one project might be the worst for another. Written by A. Bell
ROUND 1: COLOR SELECTION
The color selection for paint of any type has increased substantially over the years, but traditional paint color choices put spray paint to shame. When you're looking to transform your dining room buffet with the perfect shade of poppy or you want your night stand finished in a stormy gray with just the right touch of blue, traditional paint is ideal. You can get the best of both worlds by using traditional paint in a spray painting tool versus buying a can of spray paint. However, that would be another tool you might have to buy or rent.

But color isn't everything -- spray paint offers loads of different textures. Although traditional paint comes in a range of sheens, you can't get a metallic or textured look without messy and sometimes costly additives.
Verdict: Traditional paint wins by an inch. It offers a much more expansive color selection and you still have a few textures to choose from if you have the guts to mess with additives. But spray paint comes in a close second with its endless array of finish choices and solid line-up of available colors.
ROUND 2: MESS
Painting furniture is inherently messier than slapping a few coats on a wall; from getting into all the nooks and crannies to having to practically lie on the ground to cover the bottom portions, paint will splatter and spill. Yet as long as you put down a drop cloth and wear old clothes, any mistakes are manageable.
On the other hand, spray paint overspray catches even the most seasoned painter off guard. One quick pick-up in wind or an errant ventilation fan blowing the wrong direction can quickly send your paint onto pieces that you don't want to refinish. The proper work environment mitigates a lot of this, but setting up a well-ventilated, open space with minimal air movement isn't that simple, especially if you're a city dweller. Because you may also need at least one brush to smooth out any globs, spray paint also doesn't necessarily negate the need to clean brushes when you're done.
Verdict: Traditional paint wins by a landslide. Any messes are caused by klutziness or lack of preparation; on the other hand, spray paint will make a mess one way or another no matter how hard you work.

ROUND 3: TIME
From switching between rollers and brushes to ensure smooth coverage to painstakingly brushing the paint on hardto-reach areas, painting furniture with traditional paint requires several hours. Spray paint is much quicker, even if you apply several coats. The fine mist easily covers large areas with just a few passes, and because it's so easy to get super-thin coats without worrying about brush strokes, the dry time between coats is often less as well.
Verdict: Spray paint hits this out of the
park. Although brush-on products can be worth the extra time, they're never as quick as a can of spray paint.
ROUND 4: FINISHED LOOK
When you spend the time to paint furniture, the finished look is always the deciding factor. Spray paint provides a seamless, smooth finish on a variety of surfaces, and for metal and plastic, it's much more durable than traditional paint. However, for wood pieces with a lot of intricate details, like an old Victorian dresser, traditional paint offers a level of control that spray paint simply can't touch. The latter clumps up in engravings, clogs hardware holes and makes certain styles of furniture, especially antiques, look plastic. On wood, traditional paint is just as durable as spray paint, especially if sealed with a clear topcoat.
Verdict: It's a tie here, mainly because there's no right answer for every project.

Both products have their strong and weak points and the "best" will depend on your personal goals and the type of furniture you're painting. If you keep this in mind, as well as the above points, when planning your next furniture painting project, you'll always pick the best one.

An alternative to ProFractional is Halo Hybrid Laser technology, another creation by Sciton. Halo combines deep dermal rejuvenation with epidermal renewal for a combined synergistic effect you can’t get with any other treatment. The key differences are that ProFractional is an ablative technology that penetrates the skin from the surface, and as you can see from Chelsea’s post-treatment photo it can be a bit aggressive. Halo Hybrid Laser technology is both ablative and non-ablative, where the non-ablative component doesn’t penetrate the top layer of skin and works underneath, but provides the same level of results without the downtime. Both technologies are effective for reducing fine lines, sun damage, discoloration and uneven pigment, as well as helping decrease pore size and scar visibility. How many times does it happen that three days apart, two old friends—one from the eighth grade and the other from the twelfth—look you up after more than forty years? Well, it happened to me and I still can’t get over it. When I told my friend, Helen, about the phone calls, she said she had looked up an old friend, one who had been her closest at one time and found she was terribly disappointed; they no longer had anything in common, so there was no point in continuing the relationship. That phrase, “nothing in common,” irritates me. It’s simply not possible to have “nothing” in common with anyone; at the core most people are pretty much the same and whatever differences there are make life all the more interesting. I’m not suggesting it’s not rewarding to have friends with similar tastes and lives; I’m just on the side of being open to possibilities. Another friend, one who constantly amazes me, is still friends with people who came to her first birthday party. The same holds true for those people she met in college, teaching, and what not along the way. Some she sees just once a year or drops an occasional line, but the big thing is she’s proof you can have your everyday friends and those who knew you way back when. If not for her, I might have felt the same way as Helen. Now my eighth grade friend and I (the twelfth grade friend was male—not too pleasing to my husband) are talking on the phone regularly. It is awkward for both of us--we really do lead different lives and there is a lot in between--but we’re making progress. That’s because she had had a heart attack a week and a half before she left her message on my answering machine (and her life and the important people in it really did flash in front of her) and I because she cared enough to call.

making it count Now that we are approaching the New Year, how are you going to keep those New Year promises? Whether you promise yourself to your get ďŹ nances in order, write a book or lose weight, the key to making any real change is making the smart choice consistently. You may have started out strong then stumbled back into the old routine within days (or hours). The key to fulfilling your goals is to first define them. "I want to have $1,000 in savings so that I can go on vacation in March." "I want to publish a short story by April." "I want to lose 10 pounds by February." Break those goals down into bite-size objectives. Set yourself up for success. Do what you can in small amounts. If your goal is to save $1,000 by March, a tangible objective may be to save $125 a week. Set yourself up for success by planning ahead. To do this, you may want to keep your wallet closed Monday through Thursday. You make your own lunch. You eat from home as opposed to eating out. You pay gas at the pump instead of going into the store where you may be tempted to make impulse purchases.

If a weekly goal seems daunting, set a daily goal. If a daily goal seems daunting, break that daily goal into smaller goals throughout the day. Set a morning goal. (I will prepare coffee at home as opposed to buying it in the drive-thru.) Set an afternoon goal. (I will prepare a snack to eat at my desk as opposed to walking to the vending machine and making a bad choice.) Set an evening goal. (When I go to the grocery store, I will stick to my list as opposed to going over budget by making snap choices.)
There is something intrinsically gratifying when you keep a promise to yourself. But perhaps it is the word 'promise' that causes some to get hung up. Promises are absolute. Either you keep them or you do not. Broken promises are catalysts for excuses and bad choices. Perhaps a better word to help change your mindset is the word 'resolve.' Resolve can be tested. Resolve makes allowances for stumbles and hiccups. You can resolve to get back on track. Reaching your goals is all about defining them and setting yourself up for success. It is also about mindset. Hopefully your workouts are going well, but could they be going even better? Do you have a clear picture in your mind of what you want to achieve? Is it a more streamlined physique? Do you want more energy? Is there an upcoming event you’re training for? These are goals, positive outcomes, that you are working towards.
WRITE IT DOWN University studies show that people who write down their goals are 10 times as likely to achieve them. Why is that? We will say to ourselves, “Oh, I don’t need to write them down, I know what they are”. That’s great, but we are even more susceptible to our subconscious making excuses for us than we are to our conscious mind when we think about our goal we hope for. This is why you must write it down. When you write down your goal, it becomes almost tangible; the brain cements it into your subconscious. Its like your brain has just made the goal more real for you.
If your goal is to lose forty pounds, write down “I am losing forty pounds.” Notice it is in the present tense. It again seems more real to you now. At this point, you will need to write down the steps you will need to take to get to your goal. If the goal is to lose forty pounds, what needs to happen? “Less calories” is most likely. Then what? “Change diet or increase exercise”. Great. How are we going to change your diet? Is it cutting back on portion size, or changing the protein to carb ratio? Both, or neither? How are we going to increase your exercise? Frequency, or duration? What about intensity?
SET A REASONABLE TIMELINE You must also set a timeline, albeit a reasonable one. What is a reasonable timeline? A personal trainer will help guide you through that process. I may sit down with a new O2 Fitness member, and they say they want to lose forty pounds. When asked what their timeline is, they say “one month” but it takes careful, expert guidance to help them realize that you can safely lose one to two quality pounds of fat per
week. This means that the realistic timeline for achieving their goal of losing forty pounds will take anywhere from four to nine months. What will you do, exactly, over the course of those four to nine months? From the above questions we have asked, you can see how writing down your goals is a very introspective process. You will find answers you did not have prior to writing down your goals. Our O2 Fitness personal training clients have found that this process has helped them immensely. Prior to writing down their goals, they felt that they were spinning their wheels, hoping that something would work, with maybe just some time, effort, and luck. Once they had their goals clearly outlined, with a real, organized plan of action, they started seeing concrete results. The film begins with Ellie, a spoiled and pampered heiress sequestered on her father’s yacht. And he means to keep her there until he is able to annul Ellie’s impetuous elopement to a man he doesn’t trust Determined to have her way, Ellie jumps overboard and swims to shore. There, she catches a bus headed to New York, eluding the private detectives on the lookout for her. Squeezing into the only vacant seat on the bus, the one beside her, is Peter Warne, a recently fired, good looking, smart aleck and full of himself reporter from New York. Naturally, he is in need of a good story.

As Queen she will have weekly meetings with the aging, ill-tempered Prime Minister Winston Churchill, (a searing performance by John Lithgow), and Elizabeth (a superbly nuanced portrayal by Claire Foy) will not have the many years she counted on away from the spotlight with her husband, the fun loving, irreverent Prince Phillip.
