The Top 5 "Must Go" Items In Your Closet

Believe it or not, it's almost 2017, which means there is no excuse for these top 5 items to still be in your closet.

Trust me, you'll never wear them again. No, they don't look at all like the versions that just came back into style. Yes, your kids cringe every time they see them hanging in your closet. And if your mother has the same one, you should know better.

Take note and grab a trash bag...

1. Tops with Shoulder Pads

Please, for everyone's sake…throw them all out. We all know that by no means are they comfortable and they make the average woman look like an NFL linebacker. Take the first step by swapping out your outdated blazers from the 80's with trendy, new, tailored jackets. (P.S. Ann Taylor has a nice selection!)

2. The "Ugly Sweater"

You know what we're talking about. Those sweaters. The ones that your kids buy at thrift shops for ugly sweater contests. The only reason you should have only one of these sweaters in your closet is for the specific purpose of an ugly sweater contest or for embarrassing family photoshoots..but that is it.

3. Anything "BeJeweled"

We both know anything Bedazzled or Bejeweled should never exist in our wardrobe. Just toss it…now.

4. Tracksuits

*This rule does not (necessarily) apply to actual runners* I know the classic tracksuit is comfortable and probably the easiest outfit because the top and bottom already match, but do yourself a favor and get rid of it. Whether it's a velour Juicy Couture suit or it looks like it is straight out of a Salt-N-Pepa music video, they are just not flattering. Change out of the suit and try stretchy black tights, a long sweater tunic, and some adorable flats. Voila!

5. Vintage High-Waisted Pants

High-Waisted pants are back, but this does not mean the unflattering cut you used to wear way-back-when are still "in". Just like then, the cut is hard to pull off, but if you do want to give it another go try some of the more modern styles. (FYI: Gap's high-rise jeans are super comfy)

And just like that…you are out with the old and in with the new. With all this new shelf space, you can treat yourself to that shopping spree you've been wanting to go on (without the guilt…because you've earned it!).
