If you've had perfect skin your whole life, consider yourself #blessed (also teach me your ways!). But if you're one of the 50 million Americans who struggle with the most common skin condition in the U.S., according to the American Academy of Dermatology, then you know the struggle is R E A L. Especially because pimples aren't cute, they're hard to cover, you never know when they're going to pop up, and they can basically ruin your day life overnight. Sigh.

Speaking of breakouts, Alicia Keys knows all about battling blemishes, but you'd never guess it based on the clear AF skin she has now. The singer, who's been on her no-makeup journey since June, started going makeup-free as an act of self-empowerment and has inspired many women along the way to love their skin, with or without makeup. However, the Daily Mail reported that Alicia admits her quest for clear skin wasn't an easy one.

"It took me forever to get this skin," she said in Elle UK. "I mean, I know how it feels to have a face full of bumps and pimples. I lived through that in the public eye."

TBH, I commend Alicia for striving for flawless, healthy skin and also wanting to show it off — especially since your outer appearance is a reflection of your inner health. But that doesn't mean she's over makeup forever. In fact, she even wears a low-key amount now to enhance her natural beauty, which makeup artist Dottie told W magazine. According to the interview, Dottie said Alicia only uses three products to keep her poreless complexion up to par. I tried her minimal makeup routine myself using the same products and it literally only took two minutes.

While Alicia is stunning with or without makeup, there is something so freeing about being comfortable in your own skin. It's just so evident that she's super relaxed and confident; just see for yourself below on Alicia's latest album cover :

Another example of Alicia looking super at ease: Here, the singer's fronting the cover of Elle UK's December 2016 feminism issue without a trace of makeup, working her natural hair:

And one more because her skin is #goals. P.S., remember back in the day when Alicia was a spokesmodel for the skin-care line Proactiv? If she's still using that stuff, SIGN. ME. UP!

I’m Maya, Cosmpolitan.com’s fashion and beauty assistant. When I’m not home alone dancing in the mirror to my fave song, I’m probs fawning over the latest shoes to add to my online shopping cart or sitting at my makeup vanity (aka the best place on earth) rummaging through my massive lipstick collection. Basically, I think all women are flawless and should believe it. We run the world, duh!
