I Was There But It Still Doesn’t Feel Real

When I planned to visit and photograph Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I did not imagine this to happen.

I did not think that I would be spending a few days admiring and photographing scenes that were unreal.

Where Jacob Naps in Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton is a thing of beauty. And no matter how close you get to it, it feels like a fake background. Something that I could only see Drop It Modern create.

Obviously, it’s real, but its majestic glow and towering heights are beyond anything I have ever seen before. It’s even more incredible than the Grand Canyon, in my opinion.

house-behind-trees The scene you see just above is from an area called Mormon Row.  John and T.A. Moulton had homes on this land, in addition to many others.

Can you imagine having a home in this spot, where bison wonder around with no care in the world? Where out your back door is a view of the Grand Tetons?

That wooden plank that acts as a bridge over a tiny creek is where my friend Jacob Lucas decided to have one of his epic naps. I didn’t know until afterward so I couldn’t photograph him napping there. But I’ve seen pictures of it and sure did look epic.

Then there was this scene, of one of the houses behind tall trees, and the Grand Tetons in the distance.

I framed this photograph because I was in love with the shadows and colors throughout the entire scene. The greens, blues, and whites went so well together, and then red and orange from the house popped from the palette.

The shadow from the trees covering half the house was so interesting when compared to the scale of the mountains behind.

I said it before, and I’ll say it again. This doesn’t feel real even knowing I witnessed it with my own eyes.
